🌗 Jaguar X Type 2.2 Diesel Reliability
The headline news is that the 161bhp 2.2-litre diesel – rather than the 197bhp version – has been revised and given a new stop-start system that helps trim 6g/km off the CO2 figure and boost
My X-Type 2005 Diesel 2.0 has been a little laboured starting recently but not failed to start and then today I turn the key and nothing happens. The lights on dash, in cabin and headlights all come on and when I turn the key they do not dim. There is no click / clatter from the solenoid so I don't think this is trying to engage the starter motor.
Its currently between a 2010 3.0 Diesel Premium Luxury (very clean) with 65k miles at £8K or a 2014 2.2 Diesel Portfolio (very very good condition) with 40K at £12.5K. Both are great cars but which to go for, I do about 10k miles per year. Really interested to hear your comments.

High running costs. Sluggish infotainment. Flimsy switchgear. Reliability a bit mixed. This model is predominantly made of aluminium. It’s lighter and leaner than the first XF, yet bigger inside
I have a Jaguar X type 2007 2.2 diesel. When switching on the engine the idling is extremely rough and the first few miles of driving produce a very jerky /misfiring reaction from the engine. The problem seems to ease off once the engine has reached normal operating temperature I have a Jaguar X type 2007 2.2 diesel.
Start the car and let it idle. Turn your heater on full hot and full fan speed. Let it come up to temp so the thermostat opens up and allows coolant to flow through your system. When the system burps, you'll see air bubbles show up in the overflow tank. Let it cycle a another time and then top off the coolant if needed.
The MY12 Jaguar range arrives with a raft of subtle design and performance changes, and two big additions to the brand: the bombastic XKR-S performance coupe, and the frugal XF 2.2-litre diesel sedan.
The Jaguar XF executive saloon is now available with a new entry-level 161bhp diesel.. Essentially a detuned version of the 188bhp 2.2-litre engine that was introduced last year, it produces 295lb
My previous car was a Jaguar X type Saloon A.W.D 2.5 petrol; very quick and good handling. One problem was wear to the driver's leather seat after 7 months; Jaguar replaced the whole leather covering. Changed the car after two years because of increasing fuel cost; I was only getting a max of 38 mpg, so changed to a 2.2 turbo diesel.
This Ingenium 2.0-liter diesel is the same one Jaguar uses in its smaller XE sedan and F-Pace crossover SUV. 2017 Jaguar XF 20d AWD. VEHICLE TYPE front-engine, all-wheel-drive, 5-passenger, 4
The XF comes with a three-year/unlimited mileage warranty, which is standard for the sector, although Audi's similar cover has a 60,000-mile distance limit. There’s also three years’ roadside
Performance & mpg. The 2012 Jaguar XF and XF Portfolio get a 5.0-liter V8 that produces 385 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. As has been the case with past XF models, rear-wheel drive and
I bought a 2014 premium luxury (Sportbrake) with 3.0 diesel 240 (not the 275 S as that comes with bigger wheels and lower profile tyres, more vulnerable to potholes). Very pleased with it indeed - performance seems better than my previous 2.7D S-Type remapped to a claimed 258bhp, and economy 3-4 mpg better too.
